Optical Fiber Transmission System — Long-Distance DMX, Audio & HDMI Link

Why Fiber Beats Copper for Long Stadium & Outdoor Runs

Above ~150 m of cable, copper-based DMX-512 starts to lose timing margin and pick up noise from nearby motor drives, dimmer racks and switching power supplies. Lightning-prone outdoor venues have the additional hazard of common-mode voltage transients destroying console outputs. The SUPERCAN fiber transmission system replaces that copper run with a single multi-mode (or single-mode for >500 m) fibre pair: total electrical isolation between sender and receiver, immunity to EMI and ground-loop currents, and zero attenuation worth measuring across typical festival distances. For permanent installs the fiber pair is also lighter, thinner and cheaper-per-metre than equivalent shielded multicore copper.

Supported Signals: DMX-512 / AES Audio / TCP / HDMI

The transmission pair multiplexes a fixed signal set onto each fiber strand. Standard configuration carries: 1 universe of DMX-512 (with RDM pass-through), 1 channel of AES/EBU 96 kHz / 24-bit digital audio, 100 Mbps Ethernet for sACN / Art-Net / show-control TCP and 1 lane of 1080p HDMI 1.4 for video backhaul. Latency stays under 250 µs end-to-end, well below the perceptual threshold for any stage application. Custom signal mappings (e.g. 2 DMX universes plus stereo AES, or pure 4K HDMI 2.0) are available as factory build options — quote on request.
