Choosing UV-Reactive Materials

The B18xUV uses 395 nm UV-A LEDs. Test paints, fabrics and décor with the actual fixture before installation to check the fluorescent effect you need. Its 18 × 3 W LED configuration, 75 W maximum power consumption and 100° × 70° rectangular wash describe different aspects of the product; the electrical ratings do not specify measured UV radiant output.

What precautions are needed when using this UV light?+

The B18xUV is an IP20 indoor fixture. Do not look directly into the LEDs. Follow the supplied user manual for installation, ventilation and electrical safety, and disconnect mains power before maintenance. A 395 nm wavelength specification is not an eye-safety certification.

How large an area does one bar cover?+

The B18xUV has a 100° × 70° rectangular wash. Useful coverage depends on mounting distance, fixture placement and the UV-reactive material. Test the actual surfaces at the intended mounting position before choosing the number of fixtures.

Can I use it outdoors?+

The B18xUV is rated IP20 and is intended for indoor use. Choose a fixture with a suitable weather-protection rating for outdoor installations.

Does it need a controller?+

No. Simply plug it into an AC 90–240 V outlet and it turns on instantly. The bar runs standalone in Static or Auto mode straight from its LCD menu, and DMX-512 and RDM are built in, so you can also drive it from any lighting console in 1, 3 or 8-channel mode at DMX address 1–508.

What will glow under the light?+

Neon/UV paint, white fabrics, teeth, highlighter markings, fluorescent posters, tonic water and most “blacklight reactive” décor will glow vividly. Darker colours and most everyday materials will stay dim.
